Grants from the Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund support the Barkhamsted Historical Society, nonprofit programs and capital projects that benefit residents of Barkhamsted, and scholarships for Barkhamsted students. Grants are awarded through an invitation-only LOI process.

Barkhamsted Center Cemetery Association - $25,100 to support a water system upgrade and lawn renewal

Barkhamsted Historical Society – $35,700 to support the Merrill Tavern and Barkhamsted Center Schoolhouse preservation projects

Barkhamsted Youth Baseball League - $42,000 to support the construction of a new snack shack with two working bathrooms at the Riverton Ballfields

Connecticut State Grange Foundation, Inc. - $10,000 to support bathroom repairs/renovations for Riverton Grange Hall

First Congregational Church of Barkhamsted - $5,300 to support the replacement of parsonage oil tanks

First Congregational Church of Barkhamsted - $34,000 to support the cost of exterior painting of the church, including belfry and window shutters

Friends of American Legion and Peoples State Forests - $35,000 to support a documentary film in connection with the 100th anniversary celebration of People's State Forest in Fall 2024

Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church - $10,000 to support the cost of roof replacement

Riverton Theatre - $8,150 to support the purchase of a shed to store sets and costumes

Town of Barkhamsted - $21,000 to support a feasibility study for a pedestrian bridge across the Farmington River to connect Peoples State Forest and American Legion State Forest

Barkhamsted Center Cemetery Association – $15,000 to support cemetery wall cap repairs and replacement (Phase 1).

Barkhamsted Historical Society – $23,000 to support repairs and maintenance for Merrill Tavern and Center Schoolhouse, including shutters, heat pumps, and reroofing an outbuilding.

Barkhamsted Housing Trust – $38,000 to support carrying costs for one year for the Mallory View housing project and the cost of a sewer pump station and generator to connect to existing sewer lines.

Barkhamsted Youth Baseball League – $25,000 to support new baseball and softball batting cages at the Riverton Ballfield.

CT State Community College Northwestern – $6,750 to support a documentary film showcasing student research on James Chaugham, a Narragansett man who escaped servitude in Rhode Island and made a home in Barkhamsted.

First Congregational Church of Barkhamsted – $20,000 to support site work and building improvements to mitigate exterior water drainage issues.

Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church – $12,500 to support repairs and renovation of the Community Food Bank.

Union Agricultural Society of Barkhamsted, Colebrook, and Hartland – $15,000 to support repairs and maintenance of the Riverton Fair grounds, including tree removal, gutter installation, and painting.
